Tips for Giving Cat Treats

There's no replacement for a regular diet of top quality cat food. Do not replace meals with treats. Snacks should be a tiny part of their diet.

Be careful about giving them people food. It may be good for you, but it's not necessarily good for cats. Our digestive systems and theirs aren't the same. While some foods, such as poultry, are beneficial for both of us, cats require a different combination of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals. Don't feed them from the table or promote begging.

Offer a variety. You don't always have the exact same snack, so why should your cat? There are crunchy treats and semi-soft treats. There are flavors cats love such as chicken, fish, and liver. Try to find a few that your favorite feline approves.

Use treats as a reward, especially after they've shown patience while being brushed, having their nails trimmed, or taking medicine. Several people have even had great results teaching their kitties with treats!

If you have questions, ask us! Cat treat labels aren't subject to the same thoroughness as labels on standard cat food, and it's sometimes hard to tell the advantages of one treat versus another. My Wife and I have been bringing our dogs to Pet Naturally for several years now including and most importantly since the time when Mike and Staff were introduced to us. I caught Mike by surprise yesterday while at the shop making a purchase and joked that I didn't receive my work schedule this week... The BEST shop now under new compassionate, professional, knowledgeable & competent ownership. We wouldn’t trust anyone else to groom, clip/dremel nails, express glands, clean ears, or recommend food / treats than this amazing team. The new owner is fabulous, knows his stuff, and is hilarious. My (2) MinPin Chihuahua seniors emerge happy and squeaky clean! They also have high quality, affordable HEMO CBD suspended in Omega Fish Oil and it has changed our dogs battle with gen anxiety & separation BEYOND expectation.
